Code Of Ethics

Code Of Ethics

The Gulf Society for Maintenance & Reliability (GSMR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in the Maintenance & Asset Reliability Certification.

This Code of Ethics applies to all individuals engaged in GSMR certification activities, including candidates, certified professionals, examiners, invigilators, certification authority members, and administrative staff.

Core Ethical Principles

  1. Impartiality and Objectivity
    • Certification decisions are based solely on competence.
    • All individuals involved in certification must declare and avoid conflicts of interest.
    • GSMR strictly separates training delivery from certification responsibilities to ensure impartial evaluation.
  2. Confidentiality and Data Protection
    • All candidate and certification data are handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable privacy standards.
    • Information is disclosed only to authorized individuals involved in the certification process or when legally required.
  3. Professional Conduct
    • Certified individuals and personnel shall act with honesty, respect, and responsibility in all professional interactions.
    • Discriminatory, or unethical behavior is strictly prohibited.
    • Integrity in communication, decision-making, and record-keeping is mandatory.
  4. Competence and Accountability
    • GSMR certified individuals are expected to maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and practice.
    • Individuals involved in certification (e.g., examiners, invigilators) are required to uphold procedural rigor and assessment fairness.
    • Violations of procedure or misconduct are subject to disciplinary review.
  5. Transparency and Fairness
    • GSMR ensures equitable access to certification without undue barriers.
    • Candidates are informed clearly of eligibility criteria, assessment methods, retake conditions, and appeals processes.
    • No individual or group receives preferential treatment.

Responsibilities of Certified Professionals

All certified individuals shall:

  • Use the GSMR certification logo or mark only as authorized.
  • Represent their qualifications and certification truthfully.
  • Avoid engaging in behavior that could discredit GSMR or the certification community.
  • Report any misconduct or breach of ethical standards they become aware of.

Enforcement and Violations

GSMR reserves the right to investigate and act on any reported or observed ethical breaches. Sanctions may include:

  • Suspension or revocation of certification
  • Public reprimand
  • Legal or contractual actions

Violations are reviewed by the Governance & Strategic Committee, ensuring independence and fairness.
