Who We Are
In early 2008, 26 maintenance professionals from major companies in the Arabian Gulf identified the need for an entity to represent maintenance and reliability professionals from different industries in the region. They came together and founded Gulf Society of Maintenance Professionals (GSMP), which later transformed into Gulf Society for Maintenance & Reliability (GSMR).

Launch of GSMR Strategic Accelerated Transformation Plan
Introduction of GSMR Excellence Award; Creation of Women in Industry and Asset Management (WIAM) Committee
MOUs signed with various global and regional entities
The Reliability profession was officially brought under the Society’s umbrella
Expansion of networking events to include specialized Technical Forums; Decision for the strategic evolution of GSMP to GSMR was passed
Start of GSMP Training & Certification Programs
Establishment of GSMP in February; GSMP becomes a Founding Member of GFMAM in May; Birth of MAINTCON in December
Mission & Vision
GSMR is the leading non-profit organization for maintenance, reliability and asset management professionals. Since 2010, we have established a hub of knowledge creation and exchange in the Arabian Gulf through global conferences, regional symposiums, interactive technical seminars, training and certification.
In 2020, the GSMR Strategic Accelerated Transformation Plan was announced based on four pillars, eight major objectives and over 35 new initiatives. The GSMR Virtual Academy was launched as part of the Plan, which further strengthened GSMR’s presence through executive and technical webinars, virtual training workshops, virtual professional enrichment programs and others.
An independent community of professionals including young engineers and CAMA-certified practitioners, GSMR is a premier platform, offering educational opportunities, networking events, and resources and support to maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professionals.

GSMR signed a cooperation agreement with World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM), which offers GSMR’s members the benefit of Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) Exam in the region..

GSMR is a founding member of Global Forum for Maintenance & Asset Management (GFMAM), a body connecting maintenance, reliability and asset management societies worldwide.
