Engineer Ahmed AlJelwah appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM)
The Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) announced the appointment of Engineer Ahmed AlJelwah as its new Chairman of the Board. Ahmed is a leading figure in the fields of maintenance, reliability, and asset management, serving as Director of Corporate Maintenance Services and Vice Chairman of the Maintenance Council at Saudi Aramco, and Chairman of the Gulf Society for Maintenance and Reliability.
Engineer Ahmed has 20 years of experience leading maintenance transformation initiatives at Saudi Aramco, which have solidified the company's position as a global leader in reliability and asset management. His most notable achievements include leading the comprehensive plant reliability management program and establishing performance evaluation and benchmarking frameworks for maintenance and reliability excellence. He also spearheaded the launch of the maintenance planning and scheduling improvement program and the development of the digital transformation strategy for maintenance and reliability, all of which have contributed to enhancing the efficiency and reliability of Aramco's operations. Globally, Ahmed leads the “Global Maintenance Day” project, uniting international efforts to establish and institutionalize this day as an officially recognized global event.
The appointment of Eng. Ahmed marks a new phase in the Forum's journey, reinforcing its mission to advance maintenance and asset management practices globally through collaboration, knowledge sharing, professional development, and making maintenance and asset management a more attractive career path. Under his leadership, the Forum aims to expand international partnerships and strengthen the role of maintenance in achieving sustainability, safety, and operational excellence, both in the Arabian Gulf region and globally.
Eng. Ahmed holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Management from the University of Edinburgh, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Southern California, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from BPP University. He has also completed a number of leadership programs at Harvard Business School, London Business School, Wharton University and Stanford University.
